“Lawrence Koichi Barrish began daily training in Aiki-do in 1969 and inherited the Kannagara traditional Budo (and the name Ideta Koichi) in 1977. After becaming the 1st American person to receive the license as the Shinto Priest in the early 1990’s he could build the Kannagara Jinja in 1992 and operated it as Chief Priest and Chief Aikido Instructor until its closing in 2023. Barrish Sensei and his family then relocated to Kissimmee FL to create the Kannagara Earth Dojo as the center for training and in-depth exploration of the inner essence of Aiki Budo.…”
